Thirsk railway station is in Carlton Miniott, outside the immediate town centre. National Rail’s onward map places the Market Place about 1.4 miles away, roughly a 20–30 minute walk for someone comfortable with the route and luggage.

For the centre, follow current signs rather than navigating to an old saved pin. North Yorkshire Council lists Market Place, Millgate and Marage among its Thirsk car parks; restrictions, charges, Blue Badge arrangements and electric charging can change.

Central Thirsk is suited to walking: the square, Kirkgate, Westgate and key cultural stops are close together. The railway station, Sutton Bank, abbeys and most villages need a separate decision.
